The Walrus and the Hedgehog, Altadena
I first met this group of friends that are The Walrus and the Hedgehog, at the Holly Street Farmer's Market. My first year of Sundays on Holly Street were my favorite day of the week. People were so relaxed, families were out, and the Walrus and the Hedgehog would be preparing delicious breakfast burritos, sandwiches, tacos and if we were lucky, something sweet from Shannon. They always had vegan choices, but there was no shortage of melted cheese! After they "graduated" to the Hollywood Farmer's Market it was never the same! I miss the our Farmer's Market, but mostly the caterers known as the Walrus and the Hedgehog.
Fast forward to the days of Covid and you can imagine what has happened. Thank goodness they have pivoted to baking and delivering bread to the Pasadena/Altadena area! I know a lot of people are baking their own bread now. I'm not baking bread! Are you baking bread?
And not only are they baking bread and delivering it for free, they are also taking orders for products from some of their fellow market friends.One of them is Star Sky Granola: another favorite of mine from the Holly St. days. Her granola is packed with nuts and berries and flavor and CRUNCH! My favorite is the Coffee Crunch on chocolate or vanilla ice cream!
